How To Install xschem on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xschem on CentOS 7.
What is xschem
xschem is a schematic capture program, it allows creation of hierarchical representation of circuits with a top down approach. By focusing on interfaces, hierarchy and instance properties, a complex system can be described in terms of simpler building blocks. A VHDL or Verilog or Spice netlist can be generated from the drawn schematic, allowing the simulation of the circuit. Key feature of the program is its drawing engine written in C and using directly the Xlib drawing primitives; this gives very good speed performance, even on very big circuits. The user interface is built with the Tcl-Tk toolkit, Tcl is also the extension language used.
We can use yum or dnf to install xschem on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install xschem.
Install xschem on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install xschem using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install xschem
Install xschem on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install xschem using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install xschem
How To Uninstall xschem on CentOS 7
