How To Install sip-dev on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install sip-dev on Kali Linux.

What is sip-dev

sip-dev is:

SIP is a tool for generating bindings for C++ classes with some ideas borrowed from SWIG, but capable of tighter bindings because of its specificity towards C++ and Python.

SIP was originally designed to generate Python bindings for KDE and so has explicit support for the signal slot mechanism used by the Qt/KDE class libraries.

There are three methods to install sip-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install sip-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install sip-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install sip-dev

Install sip-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install sip-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install sip-dev

Install sip-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install sip-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install sip-dev

How To Uninstall sip-dev on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the sip-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove sip-dev

Uninstall sip-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall sip-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove sip-dev

Remove sip-dev Configurations and Data

To remove sip-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge sip-dev

We can use the following command to remove sip-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
